The future?
The United Nations needs a huge re-think and review to give it teeth when issues arise amongst the most powerful of the 15 key members of its security council. The membership includes enormous players such as the USA, Russia and China. Their size and economic power alone should require proportionate and fairer scrutiny that matches the size of their impact on the global population. If it's caught in a governance trap that never foresaw that key players may lose their way, then perhaps the rest of the members should feel emboldened to jump ship into a mirror UN that has an adjusted and more responsive governance procedure that's no longer suitable. There's plenty of other mature and established nations not seemingly trying to encroach on the welfare of other nations that could no doubt help broker this including France, Australia, New Zealand, UK, Germany, Japan and Mexico as a totally unfixed and randomized selection
The U.S Constitution needs better protection and needs a review itself. Politicians and others in the USA need to get past a mental-block that it's somehow too difficult to amend and update the very basis for how to live in the USA .A national conversation is needed where the people are genuinely listened to, and it needs to be non-partisan or driven by wealthy lobbyists. Let the poor have their say too. The systems used by other democracies including the UK's Constitutional monarchical system never reach a stage of perfection, but we'd still be employing men on ladders to light our street lamps if we'd never adjusted the legal basis that moves the nation forwards, admittedly slowly.
People must be empowered with the tools and the confidence to keep an eye on free speech and democracy.
